ANIMATION AND MULTIMEDIA COURSES

Arena focuses on delivering world-class quality, competence and consistency in it's offering. It's courses are industry-relevant and help students pursue global careers. The range of courses mainly comprises of training in Animation, Graphics, Gaming, Web and Interactive Multimedia among others.

2D ANIMATION

It is hard to imagine the kind of effort and dedication that goes into the creation of a fully animated film like Tom Story or Finding Nemo. Or to bring to life the spellbinding special effects in Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. An in-depth understanding of animation requires a complete knowledge of the process involved in creating 2D and 3D Animation.

STORYBOARD

Series of panels that contain a visual interpretation of the screenplay is called storyboard. Storyboard is a process where a storyboard artist along with the director, the character developer and the background or the layout artist, discusses the entire script and plans in advance the camera placement, the camera and character movement, etc.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Design characters based on the script and the storyboard.

BACKGROUND AND LAYOUT

Design backgrounds that will be scene based.

IN-BETWEENS

Drawings that are draw between the key drawings are called In-between drawings.

KEYFRAME

Keyframes or key drawings are extreme drawings, which define the first and the last position of the character in action.

CLEAN UP

Assistant Animation trace the Lead Animator's Rough drawings, adding details and cleaning up the lines as they go. Confusing details, like the lines on the back of this character, are clarified for the painters: and coloured ink are indicated in coloured pencil. Sometimes, the lead assistant will select a representative drawing from each scene and do a single sample clean up drawing to show other Assistants how the scene should be cleaned up.

SCANNING

The Clean up drawings are then in the computer.

INK AND PAINT

According to the colour model corresponding character is coloured.

COMPOSITING AND EFFECTS

Different layers of Characters and background merged to make a complete frame.

FINAL OUTPUT

A fully developed frame ready to be broadcasted.

3D ANIMATION

3D graphics and animation are produced in standard software packages, such as 3D Studio Max, Maya or Lightwave3D. The fundamental skills of the 3D artist involve learning to use such packages. Which are astoundingly complex. Learning to create, texture and animate models using the standard applications is the central task, and requires years of dedicated study.

STORYBOARDING & CONCEPTS

The storyboard is developed with concept in mind. Creativity plays a major role at this stage. A frame-by-frame concept and flow of animation, with characters and background is developed.

MODELING

Character sketchers are translated into the computer for use in 3D animation. They may be scanned models that need extensive clean up. Many software packages and translation programs are used for this purpose.

TEXTURING

Involves giving textures and shades to models or objects to give a realistic look and feel to them. Models are given characteristics like that of wood or metal, water or glass which have properties like reflection and refraction, transparency and highlight.

CAMERAS & LIGHTING

Lighting and close relationships with the shading and textures area are developed. Realistic camera movements are created and matched with live action shots. Constant research of new techniques keeps advancing this field.

ANIMATION

Encompasses all that is expected to breathe life into an object. Involves constant usage of all the elements that make animation a skill. Animators work on multiple platforms with many High-end programs. The most crucial process in 3D animation.

RENDERING

Several techniques are used to give surfaces reality and unreality.

VISUAL FX

Advanced software and program are used to create lifelike and fantastic effects. Creating Visual FX requires maximum skill development.
